There are a number of different benefits to cement flooring and coloured concrete flooring. There are so many advantages, that more and more people are deciding to invest in cement floors rather than other types of flooring. A lot of people tend to think of concrete as dull and boring, but there are so many things you can do with it. It doesn’t have to be a dull grey colour; you can paint it and even produce patterns in it. You can polish your coloured cement flooring too, so that it looks elegant and sophisticated.
Durability of Cement Floors
Unlike other types of flooring, such as tiles and paving, cement floors are incredibly durable and strong. Whilst wooden floors will warp with heat and damp, concrete floors don’t. Likewise, they don’t crack or split the way that linoleum and tiles often do. They also don’t stain that easily, and are thus far better to maintain and clean.
As a rule, concrete is a long lasting and durable material. There are certain environmental factors such as freeing water which can shorten the lifespan of your cement floors, but you are likely to find that they still last longer than other types of flooring. If you properly care for your cement floors, then they can last for over 100 years, compared to the other types of flooring which will have to be replaced after just a few years.
Environmentally Friendly
Cement floors are incredibly environmentally friendly. They can be made using leftover waste materials such as crushed glass, recycled plastic, slag cement and fly ash. This means that it helps to keep the planet clean by using up waste that would otherwise just be dumped. Another environmentally friendly factor is that the primary raw material is limestone. This is a very abundant material, so we are not using up any limited resources.
